The Journey Begins
India has a rich and diverse tradition of imaginative storytelling, yet science fiction and fantasy often remain on the cultural fringe. The Indian Science Fiction & Fantasy Association (ISFFA) was founded in February 2025 by long-time editors, writers, and fans of Indian science fiction who recognized the urgent need for a unified, inclusive platform. For too long, SF and fantasy communities across regions and languages have existed in isolation — ISFFA seeks to change that.
Our mission is to bring together writers, readers, publishers, translators, fans, and researchers from across India and the Indian language spectrum — whether you’re from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, or anywhere else — and to create a true community around speculative storytelling. We aim to increase the visibility and readership of Indian SF, promote original writing, and foster interlingual collaboration across borders and cultures.
While our focus is on India, we also believe in cross-border collaboration. We welcome partnerships with international SF associations, South Asian literary groups, and global genre communities. Together, we can build bridges of imagination and ensure that the voices of Indian speculative fiction are heard, preserved, and celebrated — both at home and around the world.
